Strategic Research Trial
About the Strategic Research Trial
Qualtrics offers a free account option that allows users to try a limited scope of features. However, more advanced research or complex feedback studies may require additional, advanced features. For researchers who are interested in exploring enhanced features, but aren’t ready to purchase, it’s easy to start a 30-day free trial of our Strategic Research offerings.
Our Strategic Research product is an advanced research solution that combines experience feedback, sophisticated research methodologies, and analytics in a single platform. With real-time insights, and automated actions embedded into every business workflow, Strategic Research gives everyone the tools to design experiences that power breakthrough products and services.

- Unlimited questions per survey
- Only 200 outgoing emails allowed/100 emails a week (total includes emails sent across all surveys – both invites, reminders, and thank yous)

Starting a Trial
If you don’t have an account yet, you can sign up for your Strategic Research trial on this page.
Users with existing free accounts can either click the Start Free Trial banner on the lower-left of every page, or go to the Plans page by clicking Upgrade Plan from the account menu and select Strategic Research.
For information on upgrading your trial to a self-service license, see Upgrading a Free or Trial Account.
Trial Expiration
When your trial expires, your account will automatically be downgraded to a free account. You will not be able to extend or re-enroll in the trial once the 30-day trial period ends. You will still be able to use and view any surveys you created and responses you collected during the trial, but you will lose access to premium trial features, like expert-built solutions, advanced question types dashboards and analysis tools.
To retain access to the premium features you were able to use during the trial, you will need to upgrade to a full license. To keep using the Strategic Research trial features, unlock remaining trial restrictions, and increase your user seats and response maximum, you can upgrade with a credit card. See Self-Service Licenses to learn more. Or, go to our Contact Us page and select Contact Sales for help finding the right plan to meet your needs.
FAQs
- Why are the changes I made in the Rich Content Editor not showing up in my free / trial account?
-
The Rich Content Editor makes changes to question text by marking up the text with custom code (HTML). As a free account, custom code is not enabled in preview and active versions of the survey. This includes everything from changing font colors to embedding videos. To use the Rich Content Editor to its fullest extent, your account will need to be upgraded.
- Why is my HTML, CSS, and JavaScript not working in my free / trial account?
-
As a free / trial account, custom code is not enabled and so you won’t see it in preview and active versions of the survey. To use custom code, your account will need to be upgraded.
- I accidentally made a free account instead of signing up with my university or correct affiliation. What should I do?
-
That's OK! Since free accounts have a limited set of permissions, we recommend using an account affiliated with your organization instead.
If you have any questions about managing your trial account, Qualtrics Support can help. Contact Qualtrics Support using the Contact Support link at the top-right of this page. Support can do 1 of the following:
- Provide you with instructions on how to move your free account into your organization’s license (and thus change it to a standard user account).
- Delete your free account, allowing you to sign up with your organization using the same username.
For more information on moving your account to your organization's license, check out the User Moves support page. - How do I upgrade my free / trial account?
-
There are a couple ways to upgrade your account. To upgrade with a credit card, visit your account's Plans page:
- Click your account icon and select Upgrade Plan to view package options.
- Click the Plans tab in your Account Settings. On the Plans page, click Buy now next to the pla you want to upgrade to. Enter your payment information, review the order summary to confirm the number of users or responses you are purchasing, and submit your payment. See Self-Service Licenses to learn more.
- Click your account icon and select Upgrade Plan to view package options.
- How can I get my surveys or account moved to another license?
-
Qualtrics Support has the ability to initiate a user move which will move an account from one license to another. In order to begin the process, support will need permission from the Brand Administrator of both your current and future licenses. If you have a free account, we only need permission from the new Brand Administrator. Since user move turnaround can range from a few days to a few weeks, we recommend exporting your surveys/data and importing them into your new account as it is normally much faster.
If you don’t want or don’t have anything currently in your account (no surveys, no contact lists, and no library messages), you can deactivate your own account. This way you will be able to more make an account with your new license and get started more quickly.
For details on all of the options offered you, see the User Moves page. - When does my trial expire?
-
Your trial expires 30 days after you signed up. At that time, you will once again have free account permissions.
- What happens to the upgraded features I used after my trial expires?
-
Features you used during your trial that are incompatible with free accounts will become unavailable to you. You will not be able to access these features again unless you upgrade your account.
- How many times can I start a Strategic Research trial?
-
Every user is limited to one trial per account. After your trial ends, you will have to upgrade your account to continue using upgraded features.
