Key Terms

Welcome to the Employee Experience platform! We are excited to help you launch your 360 project. This guide will walk you through the steps necessary to launch your project. You’ll find downloadable templates and guides in each of the steps listed below. Throughout the guide, several terms are repeated in various areas of the product. These are key elements that are part of all 360 projects. You can find a quick definition for each term below:

  • Projects: This includes the survey that subjects and evaluators complete, the participant workflow configuration, the subject report template, and the messages that are distributed to invite participants.
  • Participant: Anyone who is participating in the 360 rating process is considered a participant. This includes individuals receiving feedback and those providing feedback.
  • Subject: A subject is an individual who is receiving feedback as part of the 360 rating process. In most 360 multi-rater processes, subjects will complete self-evaluations in which they rate themselves.
  • Evaluator: An evaluator is someone who is providing feedback on a subject. Subjects can also be evaluators if they are rating individuals in addition to themselves. Participants that are only providing feedback are designated external evaluators.
  • Brand Administrator: A Brand Administrator is a user who has full access to the 360 platform, including – but not limited to – creating and administering surveys, creating new users, managing user permissions, and accessing the directory.
  • Directory: The directory is the central list of all Employee Experience project participants for the organization. This includes both previous and current participants.
  • Employee Insights Administrator: This is an administrative user who can set up and administer 360 projects. However, Employee Insights Administrators do not have access to the directory or to the Admin page (where permissions are set).

Checklist

Before creating your 360 project within the Employee Experience platform, below is a list of project considerations that should be discussed with your team:

  1. Finalize your question set and the associated scoring category (including translations, if applicable). To get started, review our documents regarding “360 Sample Questions & Competencies with Tips & Best Practices” and additional example questions.
  2. Finalize your subject list.
  3. Define the workflow of your project. This is covered in Step 3 of Getting Started. The most common workflows within a 360 project are:
    • A predefined list of subjects and evaluators who are linked for exact evaluations
    • A predefined list of evaluators a subject can nominate from, and the accompanying requirements for these nominations
    • An open nomination process whereby evaluators are not uploaded, and the accompanying requirements for these nominations
Qtip: We recommend running your 360 Projects in waves. Usually, we’ll break a Project into three sections: Wave 1 for nominations, Wave 2 for evaluations, and Wave 3 for giving subjects report access.
  4. A draft of your invitation and reminder messages (including translations, if applicable). To get started, review our documents for example subject and evaluator message templates.
  5. Gather any previous reports you want to use as a reference point for this project.
  6. Determine your timelines for your project going live and closing.
