Why Qualtrics
Why Qualtrics – Donal Reddington – Senior Talent Acquisition Partner – Dublin, Ireland
For me it’s simple, the people and the mission. I can honestly say there is not one person in Qualtrics I am not impressed with. When you look across the office you see people who are highly intelligent, highly driven, super busy who also happen to be really nice! Considering our growth and the targets we have set ourselves I am always surprised just how friendly everybody is and how willing they are to give you their time.
Our mission has a lot of areas to it. For recruitment, we want to build high-value teams. For EMEA, we want to make it a vital office doing critical business and for Qualtrics. As a company, we want not only to create, but to dominate, a new category that we have helped create. And all of them are super exciting!
What is the "day to day of your role”?
I know it’s a cliché but I rarely have two days that are the same. In EMEA our recruiting team has grown from 3 to 12 in less than a year! We are now in a position where we can focus on the really important talent areas such as candidate experience, employee branding, and diversity.
What is the most exciting element of your current role/team?
The pace and change of the role. You hit a target, you get a shout out, and they extend the target which keeps life interesting! Also, I have been fortunate enough to onboard two members onto the tech and professional services team. It has been super exciting to be involved in growing our internal team, helping with training and with the team making such jumps!
I also love the stage we are at; internally we call it the rocket ship! It’s just really exciting to be in a company where the site leaders know everybody on a first-name basis. When you make a difficult hire it gets called out, and it brings a lot of satisfaction to be in a recruitment team which is front and centre.
What does Experience Management mean to you?
For me, this is the difference between me excelling and failing. It’s very easy in recruitment to turn everything into a headcount number. Every candidate who interviews gets a questionnaire from us. This is a great reminder that we are dealing with people, not just job requisitions. Also, every potential candidate is a potential customer, so it’s nice to be in a company that acknowledges that we are part of a greater ecosystem.
What do you think of Q Community?
I love it! There are so many good ideas and so much enthusiasm for growing it! Just this week I set up a Slack group to start a running group for Dublin. Within a day we had 30 people interested and now I am outlining the race events for the year which we can attend with Qualtrics supplementing the cost of them!
Any advice for someone joining Qualtrics?
Live the core values (Transparent, All In, Customer Obsessed, One Team, and Scrappy). I think every day we are climbing a mountain or finding a mountain to climb. We work really closely to achieve our goals, we call out each others’ wins, and support each other at tough points. We also know that success isn’t a straight line so we need to be creative, scrappy, and innovative to hit our goals.
