Why Michał chose to be an engineer at Qualtrics Krakow

I want to do cool things. Whatever I do I want others to enjoy the results of my work and what motivates me the most is knowing that my projects are being used not shelved. The Qualtrics XM Discover solution seems to me to be this kind of product - giving satisfaction and a sense of influence on the experience of others.

What Attracted You To Qualtrics in the first place?

Interesting products, great culture, and people. Also, a high hiring bar was important for me. I used to work in finance and I wanted to change my domain - Qualtrics seemed like the right option that gives me the opportunity to demonstrate my programming and algorithmic skills.

What was the turning point when you knew you had to have the job at Qualtrics?

The conversation during the recruitment process I had with a team leader of the team I wanted to join. At that time I understood that Qualtrics is hiring people with the same mindset I have, eager to do great things and be proud of them. Also, the challenges the team was dealing with were really exciting for me.

What does your day-to-day look like?

None of my days look like the others. Even walking my daughter to kindergarten every day is a whole new challenge every time. In general, I try to get up quite early every day so that I can study something or start work in the morning. Then I spend some time with the kids, move to the office by bike where I can focus on tasks and meetings. I devote my afternoons to family and gym or running and leave the evening for entertainment. However, every time something unforeseen happens, perfectly prepared plans fall apart in a moment.

How Have You Become Involved in Community at Qualtrics?

Last year I had the pleasure of participating in the organization of the first QHackathon and joining the Hour of Code - an event in which programmers conduct programming lessons in schools to encourage the youngest to develop their interest in software development. I am glad that there are so many people in Qualtrics willing to devote their own time for others - to make the world a better place. Such a strong culture gives confidence that the team can cope even in the greatest difficulties, and this is important to me as a new member of the Qualtrics community. I also appreciate how professionally prepared the events were.

What 3 words would you use to describe Qualtrics to someone?

Not only surveys! :)

What's a myth about your career that you'd like to bust?

I think the days of "stereotypes about programmers" are long behind us, but there is still a perception that a developer is a very technical person. Skills are important - there is no arguing with that, but I personally believe that a good developer must be characterized by strong soft skills and a willingness to learn. It is the ability to work with other people and the hunger to try new things, not the knowledge of yet another programming language, that makes us successful.

Qualtrics is growing, and if you're ready to find your "why" at a place like this, you can explore our open opportunities at any time by visiting our career page or by joining our talent community.
