Karol talks about finding personal growth and career development on the engineering team

The first time I heard about Qualtrics in Cracow was in 2017. Two years later, on a cold winter evening, my friend told me about their experience working at Qualtrics. Nine days later, I decided that I’d like to take part in the recruitment process. During my interviews, I realized that this is the company I’d love to work for and be part of. Every time I talked to people about why they were working at Qualtrics, I heard that engineers care about best practices, the culture is awesome, and it’s a fantastic place for development. I thought that it sounded great and it was just the type of workplace I was looking for. Now that I have been here for a while, I regret that I didn’t start my adventure with Qualtrics earlier.

If you’ve been at Qualtrics for a while, why is it still Qualtrics for you?

I’m still enthusiastic about Qualtrics because they are constantly evolving. When I see a new area for improvement there is a process to provide feedback and the company makes changes to improve our experience.

What does your day look like?

At the beginning of the quarter, we establish objectives and key results that help me to align my priorities on a day to day basis. These also help me prioritize my weekly milestones. Every day is different and a new adventure so I’m never bored. We are truly full stack engineers which means that we have ownership of the whole process from architecture to deployment. I really like that I can decide what I would like to get deep into because we are exposed to so much.

Any tips for someone who is considering a role at Qualtrics? Or advice for someone looking to get into a career like yours? Tips for someone in general?

My friend once said, “It is better to search for a job when you don’t need one”. Even if you’re not sure about working at Qualtrics, go to the interview for practice and the chance to get to know the company and our culture.

What has surprised you most about working at Qualtrics?

Culture adoption. We are always talking about our culture so we are constantly aware of it and working to implement it.

What made you want to get into (engineering, sales, legal, etc.)?

Great opportunities to develop myself. Because of the “One Team” value, we are focused on the greater team’s success instead of competing amongst ourselves. This leads to an environment that is safe and conducive for personal growth and career development.

What are your aspirations in career/life?

I would like to create something impactful and valuable for people.

What is your top #LifeHack?

Happy wife, happy life :)

What’s a favorite moment/memory of your time at Qualtrics so far? Or an impactful moment?

After a couple of challenging quarters I had a very delightful quarter where I saw that I made huge progress.

Qualtrics is growing, and if you're ready to find your "why" at a place like this, you can explore our open opportunities at any time by visiting our career page or by joining our talent community.
