Brooke, Sales Development Representative: Not the “typical” salesperson
My “why” is to help others find theirs. I am fascinated by why people do what they do, what they are motivated by, and how we can make a difference by focusing on those things. Qualtrics helps individuals and organizations find the answers to why consumers buy from specific companies, why employees stay at their jobs, and why people behave the way they do. I am intrigued by consumer behavior and how we can use this information to better business decisions.
What attracted you to Qualtrics?
In my first market research class at Clemson University, I was introduced to Qualtrics. I learned about the complexity of the analytics and was interested in all of the capabilities. Going into my senior year, I was looking for a career that combined my interest in market research and sales. Qualtrics was a perfect fit for me because it allowed me to pursue both.
What does your typical day look like?
As part of the Sales Development Program, my day-to-day revolves around prospecting. I typically start my day by emailing prospects, then joining a team meeting, making some cold calls, and then having lunch. After that, I will catch up with a teammate or my manager, do some prospecting, attend a customer meeting, and then finish my cold calls. I love that every day is filled with similar activities but I have the freedom to structure it how I wish.
What made you want to get into sales?
I never considered sales until mid-college. I am an introvert and I used to hate talking on the phone but loved building relationships. Multiple members of my family are in sales and it was something I considered to be too challenging because I thought it seemed like something only extroverted people would enjoy. I realized that sales could be a good fit for me because I am not the “typical” salesperson. I have come to find that sales is a great fit because I am passionate about building relationships, interested in learning the “why,” and extremely competitive. I have found sales to be a great place to build a great foundation for a career in business because it enables you to understand the business as a whole. I am so glad I chose sales at Qualtrics!
