Qualtrics Experience
My Qualtrics Experience – Brandon Hodges – Director of Sales Engineering – Provo
What did you choose as your Qualtrics Experience?
I competed in the Leadville Trail 100 MTB race. The Leadville Trail 100 MTB is the second oldest of the 100-mile (160 km) marathon mountain bike races held in the United States. The Leadville Trail 100 MTB was first run in 1994 and has become one of the best marketed, attended and known marathon events in mountain bike racing. Entry to the event is controlled and restricted.
The race is run on a 50-mile (80 km) out and back course, starting and finishing in downtown Leadville, Colorado, United States, at 10,200 ft (3,100 m) elevation. Total elevation gain is somewhere around 11,000 feet (3,400 m). The actual length of the course is approximately 104 miles.
In years past I have stayed with my entire family in a small hotel room. This year I decided to make this an experience that we wouldn't forget so as a family we rented a small house where everyone had a bed. As a family we were able to spend a few days together before the race instead of arriving the night before in a hotel. During this time we went hiking, raced go-karts, went rock climbing, rode an alpine coaster, and just spent quality family time together. This wouldn't have been possible without the Qualtrics Experience.
One of our objectives at Qualtrics is to encourage employees to Learn, Lead, and Live. What did you learn through this experience?
One of the things I heard when I joined Qualtrics was the saying, "We do hard things". Leadville is one of the hardest MTB races in the world and I chose this race to teach my kids that we can do hard things. This race allowed me to learn how to push through difficult training rides and the race and has allowed me to teach my kids that we can overcome adversity and succeed.
