Qualtrics Experience
My Qualtrics Experience – Erin Rotter – Legal – Provo, UT
What did you choose as your Qualtrics Experience?
I visited China for about two weeks in early January. During my trip, I explored Beijing, Harbin, Shanghai, Xi'an, and Chengdu. In Chengdu, I visited a friend of mine who had moved there to teach English. A few highlights were doing the alpine slide down the Great Wall and standing on top of the Birds Nest Stadium. I also saw baby pandas at the conservatory in Sichuan and spent time with the local community in Chengdu.
The reason I chose this trip was to go to the Harbin Ice Festival, which is the largest ice and snow festival in the world. It happens in northern China, and they harvest ice from the river that runs through the city of Harbin. One of the locals told me the entire festival is constructed in 15 days. On the day I was there it didn't get warmer than -10 degrees Fahrenheit, but the Ice Festival was one of the most incredible things I've ever seen. They had an ice version of the Colosseum and the Duomo in Milan, along with castles and famous Chinese temples, and each building was lit up in stunning colors.
One of our objectives at Qualtrics is to encourage employees to Learn, Lead, and Live. What did you learn through this experience?
I love learning about new cultures. During this trip, I was able to explore vastly different regions of China and visit some of their amazing historical landmarks. Instead of simply hearing news stories about China and its relation to the US I spoke to locals and observed daily life there, which helped me understand more about their country.
This is just one more example of why you might want to check out our open opportunities at Qualtrics and see if you are a fit!
