Why Qualtrics
Sarah, EX Technology Consultant: Finding Out “Why”
I was the kid that always asked, “Why is this? Why is that?” You could find me tinkering around with things and trying to figure them out. I just really like to know how things work. In my role here at Qualtrics, I get to ask the same questions I did as a child but without annoying the adults. I’m constantly exploring problems and solutions or how I can make things a bit better for customers. Working in implementation has allowed me to see how all the different pieces of the job come together for each different client. Working at Qualtrics has allowed me to pursue my why every day. I get assigned projects that aren’t cut and dry and get to figure out what are the right questions to ask. I have the responsibility to figure the project out, talk with the clients, and make other companies better.
What attracted you to Qualtrics in the first place?
The culture and reputation of Qualtrics are unique and enticing. I had only heard good things about working here. I could tell from the people I interacted with at Qualtrics that they really care and that there is a lot of passion. In your career, it is easy to only care about money and have nothing else driving you. The people I knew who worked at Qualtrics didn’t have this mindset, and I knew I wanted to have the same passion they showed. It is also a huge plus that I get to bring my dog to work.
What is your favorite part of your role?
Each day I get to interact with many different people. I love that I get to work with people with diverse backgrounds from all over the world. Getting to know a lot of interesting people makes each day working here exciting.
Any tips for someone who is considering a role at Qualtrics?
My number one tip is to make sure that you are okay going above and beyond. This isn’t a job for people who want to kick back and coast. You really need to be on top of your work or things will come back to bite you!
What surprised you most about working at Qualtrics?
When I first walked in, it surprised me how relaxed everyone was. I think many people have this idea that work can’t be relaxing, but here, everyone can be relaxed as well as hard working. There is definitely a great balance at Qualtrics.
What are your aspirations in career/life?
Just to be one of the best. I want people to say, “That Sarah, she knows what she’s doing, and she’s good to have around.”
What is your top #LifeHack?
On my phone I have myself named as Ellen Degeneres. When I need a little pick me up, I’ll text myself little notes like, “You’ve got this!” When I open it, it’s like getting a text from my celebrity friend!
